Many a times we tend to worsen our credit profile almost unknowingly. Following is a list of do's and dont's to avoid such pitfalls:
-
Avoid making repeated payday loan application after one has been denied
Each application you make is likely to result in a search of your credit report. These searches are registered for 12 months and could affect future applications.
-
Ask lenders for the reason of denial
Lenders are legally required to disclose to you their reasons of denying you, if asked for. Make a point to ask lenders the reason why you have been denied and try to work on improving that aspect.
-
Always check your credit report
It always makes sense to obtain a copy of your credit report either before you make an application or if you are declined credit as a result of the information held by a credit reference agency. Your report includes all the information that any company you apply to may see and should help you establish why your application to them was refused.
-
Avoid credit repair companies
There is almost nothing that these companies can do that you can not do yourself. With some careful research on the Internet about credit repair from reputable sources, you may save a lot of money. Do not fall to their tall promises of making you debt free in a jiffy etc. Improving credit history is a slow process and requires adherence to strict financial discipline.
